Starbucks Japan launched two sakura themed drinks as part of this year’s sakura season offerings. The two drinks offered are the Sakura Blossom Cream Latte & Frappuccino with Crispy Swirl.
We ordered a Sakura Blossom Cream Latte & a slice of Matcha cake.
Keeping in line with the sakura theme, there were a lot of pink coloured ingredients used. The whipped cream, chocolate & crunchy bits were all pink. The drink itself was super creamy and it is a non-caffeinated beverage. The crunchy bits add an extra texture to the drink. While the latte was quite sweet, it didn’t reach the point where by I felt like I was drinking sugar syrup.
I really liked the drink very much and this was not my only cup of Sakura Latte that I had in Japan.
The matcha cake was quite disappointing as it was super hard. The texture resembled more of a shortbread than a cake. Taste wise, the matcha was legit and the white chocolate helped to balance the bitterness.
