Isomaru is a major Izakaya chain in Japan and they can be easily found in Japan. The chain’s main specialty is seafood and there are dishes that you can order to grill them yourself on the mini grill that is on each table. The restaurant offers an English Menu which you would have to request from the staff.
We ordered two sashimi dishes, garlic fried rice and a grilled fish. The restaurant charges a Otoshi (cover charge) and this includes some kind of smelt fish and fishcake that you can grill yourself.
All the other items were cooked in the kitchen and we didn’t get any other chance to use the grill. For a chain that prides itself as a seafood specialist, I was honestly quite disappointed by the quality of sashimi. While it was a decent plate of fish, there was nothing much to rave about. It was tough to chew on the tuna as it wasn’t cut against the muscle fibres.
