Jingtong | 菁桐
Pingxi District, New Taipei City
The last station on the Pingxi Line, it was also the smallest of the three places that we visit. Relatively lesser people then in Shifen, this is actually quite a nice place to to set off the Sky Lantern. There is way more space at Jingtong towards the end of the tracks. There is not much shops here, and we didn’t really so much exploration here.
Near the head of the station, there is a shop selling bamboo poles where one can pen down their wishes and hang it on the packed fences along the train station. Or if you fancy, look over the railings, and you will actually spot a lover’s bridge at the food of a flight of stairs.
At the end, we didn’t set off any Sky Lantern as we initially wanted to set it off during twilight hours, but we didn’t take as long as we expected. We took a train back to Ruifang to collect our bags and we bought our tickets to Songshan Station in Taipei.
There are several TRA Stations in Taipei, and we decided to stop at Songshan instead of Taipei Main Station as Songshan TRA Station is also connected to Songshan MRT which is on the line that leads to Zhongxiao Fuxing Station, the nearest station to our hotel. So do check which station your hotel is nearest to and decide on which TRA Station to alight at.
