Takeda Sengyoten is a restaurant as well as a shop selling fresh seafood. You can either pick up any items from the stall and have it prepared for you in the restaurant, or you can choose from their menu.

We ordered oysters, salmon sashimi and a Donburi topped with crab and uni (sea urchin).

Each oysters was the size of my palm and at the price of ¥1,000 for four, it is a price that is hard to beat. The oysters were very fresh and creamy. However due to the size of the oysters, we found it slightly overwhelming.

The salmon sashimi (¥450) and donburi (¥2,300) was certainly worth the money as well. When we were eating in Japan, we wondered how different fresh fish can be as compared to Singapore, and it is only after we got back that we noticed that there is this difference that is really hard to describe. The uni was way fresher than whatever I had in Singapore and although there wasn’t a fishy smell that is common in uni found here, I still didn’t quite like the taste of it.

If you are looking for fresh seafood at affordable prices, this is certainly the place to go.
