We walked into Tairyoubata to hide from the unforgiving winds. The restaurant has two floors. Normal table seating & counter seating are available on the first level and tatami seating for the second. We settled for the latter.

Although there is no English menu available, the food menu is filled with pictures. The drinks menu was only available in Japanese and we had to rely on Google Translate once again. While the food took a long while to be served, the atmosphere of the place made up for it. The place felt like a very authentic Japanese hangout spot and other customers that night included a group of businessmen who sat behind us and a Japanese family who sat next to us.

The (first round of) oysters that we ordered were fresh and nice, though it is not as big as the ones we had in Otaru.

The sashimi platter tasted great as well.

The grilled shishamo was quite disappointing as there was a strong fishy smell. The chicken karaage was freshly prepared upon order and they were super crispy on the outside but yet very juicy on the inside.

We also ordered another portion of oysters to grill. It was served fresh on a hotplate and you get to decide how long you want it cooked!

A restaurant that we randomly walked into just to hide from the wind turned out to be one of our best dining experience. With wonderful food and atmosphere, it left a deep impression on us. A highly recommended place to visit.
