Magome

Nakatsugawa, Gifu Prefecture, Japan

Magome is another post-town on the Nakasendo, built on the side of a hill. Compared to Tsumago, more effort is been placed to make the town more tourist-friendly. The main street has been repaved with neatly cut stones making it easier for tourists to walk along the steep pedestrian walkway.

When you reach the bottom of the hill, make a right turn and for the bus stop to board a bus to Nakatsugawa Station. You can approach the visitors’ centre next to the souvenir shop to check the bus schedule or if you are unsure of where the bus stop is.

Magome to Tokyo

We alighted at Nakatsugawa Station where we hopped on a Limited Express Train to Nagoya Station. There we got onto the Shinkansen to get back to Tokyo.
