Lucky Pierrot is a fast-food chain that can only be found in Hakodate. This outlet is styled to resemble the ‘80s American roadside diner. Vintage posters are framed and hung on the walls.
The pictorial menu includes English translation makes ordering a breeze. Place your order and pay for it at the counter before finding a seat.
We ordered their signature set (Chinese chicken burger, chilli-cheese fries & iced tea) and another bacon & eggs burger and ice-cream. The Chinese chicken burger comprises of a deep-fried shrimp-paste chicken patty (or har cheong gai in Cantonese). The patty is crispy and on the outside and juicy on the inside. I am usually not a fan of shrimp-paste chicken, but the balance of the flavours in this burger won me over. The bacon & (sunny-side up) eggs burger came with a very thick juicy and well-seasoned beef patty. One of the best bacon & eggs burger that I have tasted.
The beef chilli-cheese fries was quite a disappointment as the fries were quite soggy and the taste lacked the oomph that one would come to expect from beef chilli. We requested for the ice-cream to be served after our mains. The milky soft-serve is topped with a side of sour sorbet.
A die-die must try if you are in Hakodate, it certainly won’t disappoint!
