Narita Airport to Kyoto

After lunch, we rushed to the train station to board the Narita Express which will bring us to Shinagawa Station where we will change to the Shinkansen (Japanese Bullet Train) towards Kyoto.

The sun was already setting when we arrived at Kyoto Station even though it was only 4:11pm in the evening.

After checking-in and having a satisfying dinner, we took the subway from Nijo Station and alighted at the Sanjokeihan station. Getting single trip subway tickets from the station was quite easy. Locate the destination station on the board right above the ticketing machine and identify the price for you to get there. At the ticketing machine, press the amount as well as the number of tickets required and just slot your money in. The tickets and change (if any) will be dispensed.

We alighted at Sanjokeihan station as we wanted to head towards the Gion District to see some Geishas. We took a long stroll along the Kamo River. It was already quite late by the time we got near to the district, and the whole place has transformed into a place that we didn’t quite expect to be.

In between Nijo and Gion, we found ourselves unknowingly walking into the red-light district of Kyoto. It was certainly an interesting sight and experience for us to see how the streets are like.

After walking pass the red-light district, we arrived at Gion. All the shops were already closed and we didn’t see any Geishas. We decided to walk back to our apartment from where we were, not knowing how far it actually is.

After getting back to Kyoto Station, we went to Lawson to stock up supplies before retiring for the night.
