We only brought one-way tickets for the ropeway as we wanted to walk down from the top through the Kobe Nunobiki Herb Gardens back to Shin-Kobe Station. The staff at the ticketing counter passed us a map which was quite useless with helping us find our way down.
At the top of the ropeway, there is a German-themed area and restaurant serving dishes such as bratwurst. The weather at the top of the ropeway was very chilly.
Before heading down to the Herb Gardens, we bought a bratwurst served with Japanese curry. One bite was all it took to warm our body.
Walking through the Herb Gardens, we realised that we have came too late as the garden was closing. The glasshouse was already closed for the day and the skies was also starting to get dark even though its only close to 5pm in the evening.
If you have brought a return ticket back to the entrance of the ropeway, you can board the ropeway from the middle station which is located here.
We left the park and walked down to the Shin-Kobe Station. The signboards were not very clear in providing directions towards the station despite the staff assuring us that it will be easy to walk down. We missed the gate to for the pedestrian footpath and we walked on a main road instead. It was at the resting point where we found the correct walkway.
We walked past the Nubobiki Waterfalls. Though it was already dark and there were not much illumination from the lack of lamp posts along the trail, the moon lighted up the whole waterfall and there was some mystical feel to the waterfall.
We finally got to the foot of the hill and entered Shin-Kobe station.
