From Demachiyanagi Station, we took the subway to the Fushimi Inari Station. Do note that Fushimi Inari Station is not served by a Rapid-Train and you will have to board a Local Train here.

From the station, follow the directions on the signboard (or the crowd) and you will be able to get to the Fushimi Inari Shrine. There were some stalls selling street food and souvenirs on our way there.

Being one of the more popular places to visit in Kyoto, the whole place was filled with tourist. Fushimi Inari Shrine is actually located on the Inari Mountain. There is a whole cluster of shrines along the pathway that leads up to the submit with the Fushimi Inari-taisha (head shrine of Inari) located at the foot of the mountain. Toji Gates were lined all the way up to the summit. Each Toji Gate is donated by the patrons of the shrine. A larger Toji Gate will mean a larger donation amount. These Toji Gates line up the pathway up towards the submit of the hill. As we were trekking, what came to my mind was how a person was able to pose alone with the Toji Gates with so many people around.

The hike up to the submit takes around 2 hours. We stopped halfway and returned towards the foot of the mountain.

Walking back towards the station, we bought a Fox Plushie from one of the street side stalls.
