24/7 Reception
Prime Hotel Central Station Bangkok is a located right next to Hua Lamphong Railway & MRT Station. The hotel occupies the 6th to 16th floor of the building. It is not unusual for a hotel to be located above a mall or office building in Bangkok. But at Prime Hotel, guests are required to go up to the reception at the 12th floor before making a transfer to another lift to access their rooms.
Prime Hotel’s reception desk operates 24/7, allowing us to check-in to our rooms at 1 am. Despite the hotel’s “budget-friendly” status, they have a 24/7 housekeeping team.
On the first night, our room was on the 7th floor. The hotel provides complimentary tea making facilities in the room. There is also a chargeable minibar. We requested for the housekeeping to remove the minibar when we were checking in.
There are ample power points around the room for you to charge all your gadgets. The hotel provides free wifi but the reception is very bad. We were only able to get wifi signals from certain parts of the room. The wifi speed is also very slow.
In the toilet/bathroom, there is no proper separation between the shower area and the toilet. This made it impossible for the toilet area to remain dry after taking a shower. The hotel also provides an “all-in-one” shampoo, shower gel in the shower area.
The room’s walls are paper thin, providing almost zero soundproofing. All activities in your neighbour’s room, as well as the common corridor, can be heard. To make matters worse, there is an EDM club in the basement of the building. Throughout the night, even at 2 am after we settled down in the room, we could hear the music from the club. We requested another for another room the next morning and we got a room on the 11th floor. Although it was better, we could still hear the music at night.
We booked our room with the hotel’s breakfast buffet. The dining restaurant is on the 12th floor, behind the reception. The breakfast selection is quite wide. The spread includes salad, yoghurt, local dishes, bread and pastry. There is also a live station for eggs. Most of the dishes remained the same throughout our stay at Prime Hotel. Only the carbohydrates (rice to noodles & pancakes to waffles) went through a rotation.
We also used the gym. The gym, located on the 14th floor, was equipped with a modest selection of equipment. Iced-infused water and towels are provided for guest. Just sign in at the reception next to the lift, and the staff will pass you a small towel.
As a whole, Prime Hotel provides good value for travellers. Some might argue that the location might not be ideal (not near a major shopping mall/district). But the proximity to the MRT station allows travellers to move around Bangkok with ease. It also serves as a good pit stop for travellers travelling on the State of Thailand Railway (SRT).
