Getting out of Yaowarat proved to be harder than I expected. It was around 2pm and there was a massive jam on the main Yaowarat Road. We tried to hail down taxis and none were willing to charge by the meter. We decided to walk to the adjacent street in hope of finding a taxi that was willing to charge by the meter. At the end, the taxi we hopped on also refused to charge by the meter, but we managed to negotiate a rate that was lower than what was quoted by the other taxis on the main road. We left Yaowarat and headed for ThongLo.

Hoi Tod Chaw Lae was one of those hidden finds that I found during my previous Bangkok trip. Located near the ThongLo BTS station, you can find the restaurant just after turning into Soi Sukhumvit 55.

Hoi Tod Chaw Lae serves various types of Thai Style Oyster Omelette and Phad Thai.

We ordered an “Or-ror” (฿120); the super crispy version of an Oyster Omelette, an “Or-suan” (฿120); the softer version made with more rice floor, as well as a “Pat-thai-kung-sod” (฿100); Shrimp Phad Thai.

Both crispy and soft versions of the oyster omelette are still the best that I have had in Bangkok (Way better than the one we had at the Platinum Food Centre). My mum reminded us over and over again while we were planning for the trip that she wanted to come back to this stall to have her oyster fix.
